St Paul Community Outreach Community Outreach Center (COC), in Calhan, held their 6th Annual Golf Tournament at the private Colorado Springs Country Club on June 23, 2014. After a short rain & lightning delay, the 86 golfers played 18 holes and after finishing the course they met inside the banquet room to enjoy dinner and awards. Some of the awards presented went to:
1st place team – Ralph Cruz, Chris Miller, Cole Miller, Steve Thompson
2nd place team – Darrell Cirbo, Dennis Cirbo, Justin Cirbo, Spencer Smith
3rd place team – Dennis Mason, Dave Malmquist, Jed Bowman, Greg Stephens
4th place team – Dennis Carter, Mike Edgar, Nick Sims, Rick Wellington
Weekend drives in four different 2014 vehicles, courtesy of Red Noland Infinity Jaguar Land Rover were awarded to the following: Longest Drive-Page Crawford, Closest to the Pin-Jed Bowman, Longest Putt-Irv Fuchs, and Closest to the Line-Tyler Ververs.

The Community Outreach Coalition, which consists of community members and agencies that are offering their services to our rural communities, host networking meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at 1:30 at the El Paso County Swink Hall in Calhan. Everyone is welcome to attend and experience the wealth of information shared at these meetings. SAVE THE DATE: The next COC (free) event is the 4th annual Health & Education fair hosted by the Community Outreach Center Coalition on Calhan’s Homecoming day; Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 10am to 2pm. This event is held in conjunction with the Calhan Alumni and the Calhan Bulldog Booster Club who will be serving lunch, as a fundraiser, immediately following the parade until 1:30 pm. Everything takes place under one roof – at the Whittemore Hall on the El Paso County Fairgrounds. Please come, eat, visit, learn and take advantage of all the offerings provided by more than 60 vendors, to include free haircuts, screenings and prizes!
