2016 Community Outreach Center Golf Tournament

St Paul Community Outreach dba Community Outreach Center (COC) in Calhan partnered with the Calhan Bulldogs Booster Club and hosted their 8th Annual Golf Tournament at the private Colorado Springs Country Club on June 13, 2016. The weather was ideal with the exception of a short rain delay. The golfers played 18 holes and after finishing the course they met inside the banquet room to enjoy lunch and awards. Some of the awards presented went to:

1st place team – Darrell Cirbo, Justin Cirbo, Dennis Cirbo, Ken Christensen

2nd place team – John Keller, Maury Keller, Bob Klasna, Jeff Klasna

3rd place team – Dennis Mason, Del Daily, Greg Stephens, Dave Malmquist

4th place team – Ryan Carter, Tyler Ververs, Ryan Ververs, Justin Brakefield

Weekend drives in four different 2016 vehicles, courtesy of Red Noland Infinity Jaguar Land Rover were awarded to the following: Longest Drive-Dale Daugherty, Closest to the Pin-Nate Muniz, Longest Putt-Rich Spessard, and Closest to the Line-Maury Keller.

Our Gold Sponsors were – Mountain View Electric Association, Ed Glaser Propane, Inc., Linx Cabling, and Wells & West General Contractors. The following businesses also participated: Daren Richard printed the hole sponsor signs, and Design’N Time in Calhan donated the goodie bags. The Independence Center donated the gift bag snacks & Coca Cola donated bottled water. The volunteers who donated their time & talents prior to & during the tournament were Linda & Darrell McClelland, Janice Peterson, Calvin, Patty, Chad, Tiffany, Clint & Amanda Jolly, Deb Drew, Fran Dorrance, Peggy Doven, Donna & Rob Forsythe, Terri Parks, Bailee Carter & Jenni Ellis. General Manager Kevin Sanger, PGA Professional Brad Gannaway & the staff at Colorado Springs Country Club hosted the event.

The Community Outreach Coalition, which consists of community members and agencies that are offering their services to our rural communities, host networking meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at 1:30 at the El Paso County Swink Hall in Calhan. Everyone is welcome to attend and experience the wealth of information shared at these meetings. SAVE THE DATE: The next COC (free) event is the 8th annual Health & Education Fair hosted by the Community Outreach Center Coalition on Calhan’s Homecoming day; Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 9:30am to 1:30pm. This event is held in conjunction with the Calhan Alumni & the Calhan Bulldog Booster Club who will be serving lunch, as a fundraiser, immediately following the parade. Everything takes place under one roof – at the Whittemore Hall on the El Paso County Fairgrounds. Please come, eat, visit, learn and take advantage of all the offerings provided by more than 50 vendors, to include low cost lab screenings, Bonfils blood drive and prizes!
