Health and Education Fair

9th Annual Community Outreach Coalition Health & Education Fair is scheduled for September 14th, 2019

9th Annual Community Outreach Coalition Health and Education Fair

The 2019 Community Outreach Center planning team hosted the 9th Annual Community Outreach Center Coalition Health and Education fair on September 14, 2019.  They did an amazing job inviting a large variety of service providers. There were over 50 agencies (see our Partner Agencies tab) inside Whittemore Hall, a free Shred It truck and the Vitalant Blood Drive outside.   We hope everyone learned something new and/or made a contact for current or future needs.

The collaboration between the Community Outreach Center and the Calhan Alumni make it possible for a free will offering lunch at this community event.  A Scholarship donation jar was also at the lunch table. These donations help fund scholarships for qualifying Calhan Seniors. If you missed the donation jar, please consider donating to the Calhan Alumni account at the Farmers State Bank.  (direct deposits, transfers, e-checks)

Both the Calhan Alumni and the Health and Education fair planning team have volunteer opportunities throughout the year and the days surrounding the event.  We appreciate those of you that made yourselves available to help set up tables and chairs, donate food, cook and serve food, bake and serve pies, pick up supplies, artistically design flyers, maps and table layout lists, make copies, hang posters and flyers, assist and direct vendors and attendees in various manners, monitor and assist with gift table prizes and drawings, haul and display CHS senior pictures, hand out bags and bottled water, greet and answer questions, “man” tables, donate blood, and clean up, just to mention a few.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they have the heart and its not what they gather, but what they scatter that defines what kind of life they live.  Please consider a volunteer opportunity in your community.  Patty Jolly, Volunteer Community Outreach Coordinator and a Calhan Alumni.
